When Herbie first came out in a downtown movie theater, as part of a nation-wide promotion for the film, he loaned me a white VW bug with magnetized number "53". I took his daughter to the premiere of the movie and parked in the "no parking" zone in front of the theater. We were mobbed by fans who thought we were the actors from the film.
