Would like some opinions. I have a 2013 honda accord. Needs new tires, but kinda thinking of trading it in and getting a new car.

Why? Im kinda bored of it, i guess? Just want something more fresh. For context, im currently renting, and have 80k saved up. The trade in value according to kbb would be around 11k (its fully loaded)

@MntoNc KBB doesn’t cut checks. I mean real trade value. A dealer isn’t going to pay you more than they can go to an auction and buy one for that’s in equal or better condition or with lower miles.

Plus, older cars with over 100k miles are really deemed to be in “Fair” condition vs good or better…. That puts the Accord between $9-11k on KBB. Don’t let the adjectives they use confuse you. It’s all which buttons you push. A dealer spending $13k has to flip the car for a profit. For that much cash, they’ll want lower miles or a lower price.

If you get $12k you’ve done well. As a trade, you’ll also pay less in state taxes if you trade it in vs selling it in your own.

With the new tires and in good condition (no dents/accidents/rust/bumper damage), it’s probably worth $12k as a high.

@Adogslife actually looked at it wrong...its about 13k.
12k is the low end on trade in. Shoutout to Honda for making a reliable car that holds its value!

Anything specific that you are looking for?

@MntoNc Yeah, I would go with an Acura or a Lexus over a Mercedes or BMW.

@SubstantialKick did i say the trade in value was 11k? Looks like kbb its about 13k! I thought it read 11k at first

@MntoNc 13K is pretty good. Hondas hold their value pretty well.

@Stereoguy i dont even know all of their models but i feel like this is a dumb emotional decision. I have a perfectly good Honda Accord, 107k on it, drives good but just needs some new tires. Going to sams club tomorrow to buy some. Guessing thatll be around 700 bucks.
