Recently we got rear ended in a car accident. Our car was totalled.
If you were me, what car would you buy that is great on gas, safe, lasts long and will require low maintence?

Avoid any truck. They are gas hogs at best.

SUV's get about 30 miles per gallon but there's way too many blind spots on almost every SUV that's built.

A hybrid car means you still have the same maintenance expense as a gasoline powered car but your car will only operate on pure battery power at speeds below 30mph. Above 30, the gas engine starts.

By 2025, most European car manufacturers have already announced that gas and diesel powered cars will no longer be manufactured, which means that if you own a gas powered car 3 years from now, you might have a hard time unloading it when it comes time to trade it.

If I were you, I'd go for a purely electric Chev product right now because Chev is offering to install a charging system in your garage free of charge as a special promotional offer.

Purely electric cars require zero routine maintenance to the engine and transmission because there are no oil changes, no filters and no transmission to maintain. Electric motors require zero maintenance. The main battery that powers the car is estimated to last for 8 years before requiring replacement. Make sure you trade the car before that or it will cost you $15k![/c]
@swirlie We already got a car but thanks for the advice!
