The original rear-engine Volkswagen Beetle. They were around, in broadly the same form, for several decades. They were a familiar sight during my childhood, and thereafter well into adult life. Honourable mentions also go to the Citroen 2CV, which was produced for around forty years, and the Morris Minor, which was around for over twenty.
