Buy one and I'll charge you an exorbitant rate to charge it

@Addictedtoglamour I read an Article that said current lithium reserves may be depleted by 2040. So more mines around the world will need to be opened to find more. So who knows?

@MarineBob today I talked to a guy that was charging his new Rivian R1T truck. He said it costs $30 to get a 30 minute charge at a charging station. He informed me that he paid $80,000 for this truck and that Rivian is losing about $20,000 per vehicle it sells. He ordered his truck 3 years ago and has had it for a week.

@dakotaviper no charge for Toyota models all others are $100.00 per hour except for GM they're not allowed as manufacturer doesn't want them charged above 80%

90% of the US Population cannot afford to buy a New Electric Vehicle. The biggest population centers here in the US are constantly having Brownouts. It'll be 30 years or more before our Infrastructure gets updated. And the funding for Infrastructure here in the USA is derived mainly from Gasoline and Diesel Fuel taxes. Which is supposed to be phased out by 2035. This tells me that today it may be extremely cheap to charge any EV, but in the future it will not be as cheap as they're saying.

How about an electric bike? I've got one. It's practical and enjoyable to ride.

My bike,

@badminton I'd like one of those, but with pedal assist :) - AND the two wheels at the front, instead of the back. Wonder why? Take a look:

@jackson55 2017 -- Nearly 60% of All Vehicle Trips Were Less than Six Miles
(U.S. Department of Energy)
Idk the true %, but id say 75% of Americans own used cars. So my question is what will gas cost when the wealthier 25% do own electric cars? Its a pandoras box kinda thing, when you think it out.

Im with you , not even intrested.

@checkoutanytime The feds and the states pay for a lot of stuff with fuel taxes. As electric cars become a bigger fleet less fuel is used. Less tax money. That money is already spent. They will need to get more somewhere. Maybe they could tax sunshine? 🤔
Really · 80-89, M
@jackson55 The general principle is that whatever service the population demands, they have to pay for it; privately or through taxes.

If Amazon, Google, Gates, Zuckerburg et. al. could selectively block sunshine, you'd be paying for it already.
I agree 100%.

They can't force people to buy a electric car. Most people can't afford them.
jackson55 · M
@smileylovesgaming Where does the electricity to charge them come from?
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@jackson55 i don't know
jackson55 · M
@smileylovesgaming Mostly from coal and natural gas. Some hydro electric and alittle from wind and solar. But mostly from fossil fuel.

Did u see the new hummer crab walk that has all wheel steering? I guess u have take a generator with u if you go very far away from a charging location.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I'd modify and build a car that runs on wood gas before I ever bought an electric car...
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@wildbill83 Watch out for the tree huggers
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@MarineBob my wood pile is right next to my target range if they wanna come and protest... 🤷‍♂️
I can see putting them out there but forcing them on people ? 😡
Addictedtoglamour · 31-35, M
