At the age of 12 I drove a cruise ship. Really. My family took a three day cruise down the St. Lawrence Seaway. I made friends with the First Mate and he actually let me hold the ship's wheel for a minute or two, just telling me to make sure the spar(?) at the ship's prow was aimed at a rise on the shore in the distance.

Twelve Berth House Boat.

Maybe for about one minute under parental supervision. That was a pontoon boat.

Aside from that, I've paddled canoes and a kayak, rowed rowboats.

We rented/took out an historic 12 meter in Newport. I took the helm for a bit. Sailing is a lot different that piloting a stinkpot. I’ve done both - totally different experiences. Sailing is definitely the more beautiful.

Yes, a ferry that crossed the Bosphorus Straights. (It was probably on auto pilot) 😆 The captain invited me to pilot the boat.

Closest that I ever actually driven was a paddle boat! Sort of a amusement type of boat.
