Bike locks for bicycles (normal ones - not 'cheating' e-bikes, etc.)

Looking to upgrade the bike locking setup I have for my current bike which is a normal (non-e) mtb.

For those of you who are avid cyclists what do you use and do you adjust your locking setup depending where you are and how long you'll be out of site of your bike?

15+mm (thick) cable lock, I use key, lock it to somewhere you can thread it through your frame and rear wheel
