Is fuel rattioned then, where you live? (It would be no secret of course, because it would apply to all vehicles.)
I can think of two business interests that would not try to stop you car like that: the fuel producers and the car manufacturers!

@ArishMell Fuel isn't being rationed, but increasingly the insurance companies, government agencies, and third parties (plus malicious actors) are looking at ways to manipulate/control our use of motor vehicles more and more. Telematics and almost permanent network connectivity of almost all modern cars are the fundamentals.
It'll eventually be linked into social credit score systems, etc. as well.

@zonavar68 I worry far more about the malicious actors and insurers than the government; but we also have sizeable administrative differences between our respective countries.
The biggest perhaps being that the UK has no social credit score system. Social-welfare benefits are funded from general taxes including those raised on fuels and vehicles, but otherwise totally separate from anything else.
