this week's storm was proof all wheel drive doesnt live up to its marketing.

less than a foot of snow which turned to solid ice stopped neighbors subaru and rav4...my grandfathers heavy duty digging iron is only tool that will break up this ice...my 200 cc snowblower was useless after sunday night when everything froze solid

AWD is not and never will be equivalent to 4WD. I like my AWD as a road vehicle, but I’d never try off roading it. It could probably handle a little snow and ice with chains, but only light duty 🤷‍♂

4wd and awd are only as good as the tires you pair them with.

My front wheel drive buick with blizzacs or studded winter tires will outgo a 4wd with all seasons in heavy snow.

Newton's laws don't give a damn how big or expensive a vehicle is.

@Crazywaterspring Very true, but if one is willing to spend "government excess" amounts of money, one can get pretty close to bending the laws of physics
