Need some Luck going to mechanic

My car began making a strong syrup -burn like smell in the front seat , near steering wheel while driving the other day. It started about twenty minutes into being on the road. But it lasted a while and was very strong so next day I called my mechanic. He said they'll look at it but if it's electrical, he's not going to take the dash apart.
I looked it up and I guess it's labor intensive to do so.

I REALLY hope it's not electric then...I can't afford what the dealership would charge if he says go there. I have no clue what it is. I have to go drive it for twenty minutes now so it'll create the smell so when I arrive they can smell it. Please send me luck🍀😕

I agree with the people who suspect it's the heater core. It's entirely impossible to diagnose a car by description, but I would not be surprised.

@uncalled4 my mechanic could not smell the burn like scent, even though I could smell it, trying to initiate it, driving around extra. But then it dissipated, when the other day was super strong..he said if it was electric it generally does not become intermittent. It would be there continuously and there would be some light on dash generally too. So he said just gauge it. At least I know it's most likely not electric or fire hazard. But So weird.

There are electricians that are independant and specialize in automotive wiring issues. Unfortunately asking anyone to do diagnostics of an issue could be expensive.

Start with your trusted mechanic and hopefully he/she can find the issue
