Should I buy an extra tire?

I recently discovered that the last place I bought a new tire when I had a flat, they kept my spare. It must have been worn out. So I have no spare anymore and there's tons of roadwork being done constantly where I live and work and I have been stressing lately about someday getting another flat and then being stuck with having to get a tow truck to get me home and then another tow truck to get my car to somewhere to get another tire. If this was your car and you didn't have a spare, would you buy a new tire and rim now, to be prepared for an emergency, or would you not worry about it now and then if you get a flat, pay all that extra money for 2 tow trucks? Has anyone bought a tire online?

If it hasn't been too long, go back to where you bought your new tire and resolve the missing tire issue. If it has been a while, then you are probably out of luck.

If so, check around (call) local junkyards for a rim and tire... buying something new would be outrageously expensive.

Don't wait and end up having to call tow trucks... that is crazy expensive.

@Ontheroad yeah, it's been awhile. The guy that put on my last tire said my spare had had it.

@Mardrae If it's one of those compact spare tires, you can probably find a replacement fairly easy at a junk yard. A new one with rim will cost $200 or more. You can probably get one from a junk yard at half the price.

@Mardrae maybe the tire, but not tyebrom. Did he happen, maybe, you can hope, out tyebrom in the place the spare was in the car?

@Ontheroad yeah, I am one of those extra special kinda old ladies who has never been in a junkyard, has no clue where one is, and wouldn't begin to know how to go about finding something in one. I ended up buying a tire and rim on Amazon since I had some reward points and the total was $106
