Is my idea for a car company viable?

While there are many Japanese-based car companies that are famous for making quality vehicles, none of them are known for making product that that is the ultra -high end, such as Bentley and Lamborghini. And have you noticed that such brands almost always seem to come from either Germany or Italy?I think it would be interesting if a brand new company formed in Japan and dedicated themselves to making automobiles that stood up with the very top brands it terms of quality and prestige.Youre not going to tell me that the Japanese don't have the knowledge and resources to create such a thing.I see it as more of a niche company, but I think it could work.Am I right?

Toyota went part of the way by originally creating Lexus as an upmarket model but then spinning it off into a whole prestige brand

@DavidT8899 The sheer cost of building a prestige car will be immense - let alone the marketing budget needed to attract the world's big spenders. Someone I know, who has a PhD in Material Sciences, works for Bentley, and once described her job as "sniffing leather". She checks the quality of interior finishes

@ArtieKat Which is why such an endeavor is unlikely.

@ArtieKat And let's face it:they couldn't just copy the mechanics of their competitors.Theyd have to come up with their own distinct version.

It’s odd how Bentleys and Rolls Royces lose value on the used market so fast. A friend bought a ten year old Rolls in good shape for $35K. It originally sold for over $200K.

There’s a old saying among mechanics that if you want a high-end Italian sports car you need to buy three of them, one to drive, one broken down on the side of the road and one in the shop. They’re like violins; they need to be tuned every time you use them.
