Yeah, this is gonna screw up traffic here for a long time. I-95 is the major commuter road for people going to work in Center City. It's also the most convenient road to the sports complex - with two exits that more or less lead right to it.

Getting around until it's fixed is either going to mean using streets instead, or going over to NJ and using I-295 before crossing back over. Ugh!

What a traffic nightmare, happened in Atlanta years ago when Interstate 85 collapsed due to a fire underneath caused by a homeless camp. Completed in 44 days. Good luck Philadelphia, with all those unions up there, gosh, bet it will take years to rebuild.

@Jimthere4fun I-95... Open for business!!
@GerOttman still got to build the bridge.. lol
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@Jimthere4fun oh the full rebuild will take a year or so, but the road is open again in just about 2 weeks time. score one for union labor! Don't even want to think about the overtime bill...

I sure hope it's not been your fault! 🤨

turbineman40 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes So that's why Allen is burned out when coming to work. Now we know "the rest of the story.". Haha
@turbineman40 don't want him looking at those hot young nurses
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
Just saw that on the news. They say the southbound side may fall too
Disgustedman · 61-69, M
Man that must have been one hell of a blazing fire because to have that thing collapse that's really incredible!!
@Disgustedman never a good thing when a gasoline tanker explodes on a road under a highway
Disgustedman · 61-69, M
@saragoodtimes do you know what caused it to explode cuz that's rather unusual unless of course it wrecks then you really don't want to be around that cuz that gasoline does burn it hurts I know

Degbeme · 70-79, M
That must have been a very intense fire.
@Degbeme tractor trailer fire caused it
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@Degbeme Yeah, a tanker caught fire in just the best possible location. I'm wondering if the driver rolled it over coming into that curve underneath. It's not too far from the infamous "Tire Fire" 10 or 15 years ago had pretty much the same result.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@GerOttman Yeah that would be a very intense fire and stubborn to put out.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Was thinking about you when I read that.
Prayers for the vechile driver and those injured 🙏
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M

Musicman · 61-69, M
Holy schmolly! That is going to cause real problems. I certainly hope everyone made it out okay.
deadgerbil · 22-25
It would be cool to see it fall in person
@deadgerbil not knowing there was a truck under it that was crushed. prayers for the driver
deadgerbil · 22-25
@saragoodtimes apparently the bridge fell bc the truck caught fire under it. Hopefully the guy ran away from that mess
Early photos show the culprit before he waddled off to a nearby Denny’s

Back in 2004 me and my late Fiancee were finishing xmas shopping in northern Delaware, going back home on I-95 south our minivan caught on fire, a wire shorted out, arced and lit the greasy engine. We held up traffic past the PA border for about an hour or so due to all the rubberneckers while her and I sat on the side when the firefighters were putting it out and finishing up.
@NativePortlander1970 fire is my biggest fear along with being trapped anywhere
