EGR engine light.

I’m looking to buy a used car but the seller has told me that the egr engine light is on and it has been blanked off. I’ve looked online as it’s says that’s a massive no no. I was also told the reason why it’s been blanked off was because the car has been remapped. Should I still be looking to buy the car or should I stay clear of it?

If you’re desperate for a car and money is tight then look somewhere else. To get a garage to sign off on it might be a hassle and expensive. Plus you’ll be sucking down fuel more then if all was in order for that car.

Just buy something new or in real good shape

I don’t know where you are but in the US many auto parts stores (Auto Zone, Advanced Auto etc) will read that code at no charge and tell you what it means.
