Are automakers making a mistake by discontinuing their sedans?

I mean, I know that crossovers/compact SUVS are growing in popularity, but not everyone wants one of those or even needs one for that matter.

If you look at the numbers sedan sales are just tanking. There still are some on the market for those who prefer them.

@Bartleby True. Why continue selling an unprofitable product, right?

@Rose0415 That’s another good point: Margins are (usually) higher on SUVs and crossovers.
Pick-ups have the highest margins so get the most spent on getting them out the door. I mean $120000 Cadillac escalade is based on a 30-40000$ gm pickup with some leather and fancy paint added

They stopped making mine so yes.

I don’t get the appeal to hatchbacks. But I spose I don’t have much of a choice anymore.

@Rokasu I currently have a Civic, which is still pretty popular. I don't think that one will be disappearing anytime soon.

After driving only SUVs for the last 20 years I rented a car, and was like, wow this is nice!

I've never understood the fascination with SUVS? I have always preferred a sedan
