I guess I'm supposed to be excited.

Several family members were planning to go on a cruise to celebrate my stepdaughters 30th birthday. Yesterday I was informed that plans had changed and we are now going to Las Vegas. I have absolutely no interest in going to Las Vegas, I don't gamble, I can't afford to go to any shows that might interest me, I will probably go out one night and see the lights and spend the rest of the time sitting in my hotel room watching tv and collecting bedbugs. Sounds like a blast.

well, you could just relax in the hotel most of the time and enjoy the hotel amenities. swim and jacuzzi, use the fitness center, (to work off all the carbs after eating at all the buffets everyone says are so great and cheap) maybe book a full body massage, chill in bed and watch movies/tv, read some books, do a little journaling or planning/dreaming about what you want to do with your future.
@Penny I would love to just sit in the hotel room and watch tv...my wife will never allow that to happen though
If you stay at one of the big hotels they have amazing pools. The MGM Grand pool was incredible. I could see sitting down there with a Mai Tai all day long, or go for a long walk, have a beer here, some nachos there and watch the street performers.
Go to Hooters and checkout the titties.
@JamesBugman I guess the plan is to stay in the Fremont area of Vegas

Don’t go. Say something came up.

Work.
House maintenance problem.
Anything.

You don’t have to share a vacation you don’t want to go on!
@Muthafukajones I have no choice it is my wife's daughters birthday trip

@istillhaveanameitsrick Talk it over with your wife. Vegas isn’t that bad.

Swimming pools
Restaurants
Shopping
Amusement parks.
Excursions.

There is stuff to do.

i would refuse to go.
@tobynshorty It is for my wife's daughters 30th birthday, I have no choice

You should be
Just go out and have fun man.
...then how could you afford a cruise?
@SomeMichGuy It's cheaper in the long run and a hell of a lot more interesting
Don't gamble and don't let your wife gamble beyond some tiny amount.
@SomeMichGuy On a cruise all of the food, drinks and entertainment are free plus you wake up in a different place each day, experience the local culture each day. In Vegas everything costs a buttload of money and the local culture isn't local
@istillhaveanameitsrick Well, think of it this way: each moment of your life, you're on a free cruise on this planet, and you LITERALLY wake up in a different place each day (under the combined motions of Earth's rotation, revolution about the Sun, the Solar System's revolution about the Milky Way, the Milky Way's motion...).

But do control gambling.
@SomeMichGuy Won't be a problem for me, I hate gambling. My wife on the other hand has a bit of an addictive personality and she always wants to go along with the crowd. The problem with that is that everyone who is planning on going on this trip makes triple the money that I make and I can't keep up with what they will be spending.

Walk the strip. Get hassled by the homeless. $16 for a bottle of Budweiser? GTFO.
