I was at an amusement park a few years ago and was standing near a large rollercoaster. Suddenly I got hit in the head with a good sized, maybe 5/8” nut that stung like hell. A moment later a 5/8” bolt hit the pavement 3-4 feet away from me.

I did not get on that tide and haven’t got on a ride since.

@redredred I hope you got hold of a park attendant and showed him the nut and bolt on the ground and where it came from. 🍫

@trackboy I showed the guy but he seemed completely uninterested. Thinking about it later I assumed it was not an uncommon occurrence

@redredred you should have asked for someone else then as it's a big problem when a bolt falls out. the size of the bolt and its length and where it fell from would be clues as to where the bolt came from so they would know where to look on the ride for the missing bolt. guessing it was some teenage kid working for minimum wage and they had no idea about safety or how mechanisms work and did not care for the low pay they were getting. 🍫

@trackboy Or, let Darwin run it’s course. A couple of hundred thousand people die each day on earth, so…

@redredred a lawyer would have a field day finding out that the park workers don't care about nuts and bolts falling off the rides. that should be immediate stopping of the ride until they find out where the bolt came from and replaced it and checked the other bolts to make sure they are tight. 🍓
