It's my birthday today, and it's my 40th.

I'm on holiday, in Spain with my 14 year old daughter. I bought a cake and candles as I want to blow candles on my cake. But my daughter is refusing to at least be involved in it. I feel I've been ignored and felt like I am nobody. I'm trying to ignore it, but she is the way she is because of her dad tolerating her behaviour.

I'm always wrong but I always explain how I think anyway. Okay here it is.

Blaming someone else for conduct that you dislike sounds like you aren't giving her credit for doing her own thinking and her father credit for shaping her mind.

Way too much credit for her dad but worse, a fairly low opinion of your own daughter.
