It's my birthday today, and it's my 40th.

I'm on holiday, in Spain with my 14 year old daughter. I bought a cake and candles as I want to blow candles on my cake. But my daughter is refusing to at least be involved in it. I feel I've been ignored and felt like I am nobody. I'm trying to ignore it, but she is the way she is because of her dad tolerating her behaviour.

Happy birthday! At the age of 14, she is probably at a phase where my parents are “embarrassing” and may be feeling a little bit moody, who knows, but I wouldn't take it personally. Simply relish your time spent together.
