Wyoming.
No specific destination. I did not even have a state map until I crossed the border. This was before I had a smartphone.
I drove across the southern part, then south into mountains, and ended up in Utah. I was totally lost. I stopped at a Walmart for a Utah map, and realized I went west and almost reached Salt Lake City. Time to head back east!
I crossed northern Utah, and entered Colorado. A sign said, next gas, 40 miles. I had plenty. It was barren desert. My first one! Yet it was overcast, and actually rained!
Eventually I found a hotel, mostly full of oil and gas workers, judging by all the trucks. I continued east the next day over mountains, hit familiar regions near Denver, and made the long trek home!
