Why is everyone an expert at everything over the internet?

@SW-User nope because in real life they are too afraid to express their full potential. Its easier over the internet. And I am sure everyone is an expert at something. Making a special dish. Fixing a leaking radiator or lending a listening eye

@SW-User An expert means having absolute knowledge of something or a means to get the kind of answers by asking the right kind of qns. And that requires a certain kind of dedication to the topic.
A well read person can have a lot of answers, but that does not make them an expert. It makes them aware.

A lot of people online behave like they are experts because they read a couple of articles.

@SW-User Yeah, I do think a distinction many people fail to make on the internet is the difference between someone who is informed/well read and someone who is a true expert in a field. To someone who has no idea what they're talking about they may look the same, but they're really not.

There are many professions that require you to be well informed on a [i]very[/i] wide array of topics but being an expert in more than a handful or two is not something most humans are ever capable of even over the span of their whole lifetime.

@SW-User nope. To the contrary, I think true expertise lies in having sharpened a skill from a very young age. For example, a young girl who learns the art of baking from her grandmother. Or a young boy who learns how to fish from their dad. Over time due to the amount of time spent on these activities, they become experts in their own rights. But just because they didn't choose that career path or write a thesis on the subject doesn't make them any inferior to the so called experts. Some young women out there can bake a cake better than a lot globally renowned bakers, but they never get the opportunity to share their skills with the world is what I'm thinking...

@SW-User I'm sorry, I respectfully disagree with this. This young baker might be very skilled, but that would not necessarily make her an expert.
