Do you think the government knew the attack at Pearl Harbor was about to happen?

I thought I'd read that many of the transmissions had been intercepted, decoded and were logged at the (precursor to) the NSA. so known on some level is pretty much a given. if the attack was allowed to further political motivations is debatable.

I think it's a valid theory that they had knowledge of Japan's plan to attack Pearl Harbor but allowed it to happen so we could could have a reason to enter the war as well as pull us out of the Great Depression. That's one of the very few conspiracy theories I believe could very well be true.

An attack on American soil was expected but it was I don't believe known exactly where
