It's been done for hundreds of years. The water weighs more than the tub but a floor built to code can hold all of that plus your body without a problem.

@Stereoguy: It's worth it to pay more for quality. Acrylic looks crappy and doesn't hold the heat in like iron.

Normally we just remove them. Normally nobody wants to pay for a cast iron tub and then pay us to good tile around it. It almost costs the same for us to cut a piece of glass and tile the entire thing in as a shower... Idk y they wanted this so bad
