There was once this youthful black teenager who moved in with his rich aunt and uncle. You see, he used to live in Philadelphia, but he got in one stupid little fight and his mom got scared, so she sent him out to California. So he got settled in and had quite a few hilarious head butting interactions with his uncle, and of course his dorky cousin. There was this one time though when his father left him high and dry..AGAIN, and he had an emotional breakdown with his uncle, and it was pure magic, however the remainder of his time with his extended family was just lots of laughs and lots of fun. Eventually he grew up and went to college, something he never thought he would do, but he did it, thanks to the support from his family. In the end, they all lived happily ever after.
@Ladywiththepants: 🤣 Where there's a Will there's a way.
This is original but I wrote it quite a while ago. It's not 'off the cuff'. I thought it would make a good bedtime story.
The Little Wave
Once the North wind made love with the sea
and a tiny little wave soon came to be
Father Wind would guide him as he grew
His Mother was the sea he traveled through
and as they brought him closer to the shore
each day he would grow a little more
and safe within the arms of Mother Sea
He imagined just how big he'd grow to be
The handsome foam that formed upon his crest
was among his mothers gifts that he loved best
and the harder that his Father Wind would blow
the larger and the stronger he would grow
One day a fearsome sound came to his ear
an awful sound that filled his heart with fear
he feared something he couldn't understand
when he saw the other waves crash on the sand
He wept as he drew closer to the shore
for it seemed to him he soon would be no more
He cried and cried, "Alas! Oh woe is me."
with mortal fear of what was soon to be
When his Father and his Mother heard him cry
they told their weeping wave,, "You will not die."
"There is a gift you must deliver to the sand
then simply return to our love where you began
You'll sleep a while with Mother Sea, and then
Father Wind will guide you once again

@puck61: OMG that's beautiful
@Silverfox420: I tried to make it a children's book by changing it to "married the sea" instead of "made love to the sea". I got ripped off by a bogus publisher "New World Publishing-Robert Kisner" My stupidity! Took the money and dropped off the face of the earth...Live and learn.

Well, once upon a time, as you lay sleeping I came a creeping down the hall. You felt an ice chill and woke as you heard the steps growing closer and closer. You began to pant in labored breath, and you trembled when outside the door the footsteps ceased...only silence for awhile, and you even let out a sigh in hope that it was gone, yet at that very moment the door knob turned and it was as though your soul and all of your remaining strength left you. You were paralyzed and couldn't move, nor could you look at the door directly, for your gaze was stuck to the ceiling and only in peripheral could you see the door. I opened it, and you were little more than a frozen corpse at that moment. The shadow of my tall broad figure approached slowly, and with each heavy footfall your soul groaned from within. I began to lift the sheet from your icy feet
There once lived a man from Nantucket who.... What? You've heard this bedtime story?

I suck at remembering them in the moment when I need to tell one, but I have a head full of them all the rest of the time.
