Is American hard to translate to other languages ?

Some of the sayings have to be explained because simple translation does not explain it well enough.

@Nimbus: I like reading folklore books of sayings from other countries, I skimmed through a Turkish book of sayings once and it was entertaining.

@Nimbus: I don't remember any specific ones but most of these seemed to have originated in rural areas mentioning animals or whatever.
