What do I say when people ask where I've been?

I've been gone from school for about a month due to my mental issues. I was put in a mental hospital 3 hours away from my home. I am, well was on the track team. The kids at my school are extremely nosy and pretty much will annoy you until you tell them what they want to know. I really don't want that many people knowing where i've been, but I need to tell them something... any advice?

Just say you were away due to severe illness (which is the truth as well), and if they carry on pestering you you could just say you had a bad spell of flu or just weird vomity thing or something. It may just come out anyway, these things have a habit of getting around, just try to be prepared for that too.If they have any decency they shouldn't bug you once they know.
Also make sure some friends at school DO know the truth so you have someone to turn to while there

Once you tell 1 person you've told a hundred. Even a best best friend can accidently confide in another who will confide in another and before you know it everyone is saying "liar" and in this case "weird mental case" nasty people will start to bully and then there'll be another breakdown proving that the liar is indeed a mental case. Best to avoid all that.

A secret is only secret when only 1 person knows the secret. As soon as 2 people know it's not a secret anymore.

It's either tell the truth or tell a lie - to everyone imo.

That really sucks. But I'm sure your best friend will try just as hard as you to keep it secret. Maybe you have to tell them, and surely the staff and teachers at your school should be aware & know how to stop it. Maybe they could do an announcement before you arrive just explaining you were unwell or something

Also if you tell them the truth you'll know who are your friends, because you will find that people are actually pretty sensitive and do understand. I
