What do I say when people ask where I've been?

I've been gone from school for about a month due to my mental issues. I was put in a mental hospital 3 hours away from my home. I am, well was on the track team. The kids at my school are extremely nosy and pretty much will annoy you until you tell them what they want to know. I really don't want that many people knowing where i've been, but I need to tell them something... any advice?

the truth? "Sorry guys for being gone so long. I tried to kill myself and ended up in a mental hospital!" that doesn't sound like the best idea

@alyssathebreadboy: Anything otherwise would get you to feel that you're misunderstood, and possibly allow you to lie to yourself. The truth might really strengthen your relationship with those who find you important, not those who are important to you. It comes with all the bs and such but if you're willing to look past it, It would benefit you in the long run. Not everyone is the devil.
