@Headlines: It's a perfect analogy. The KKK defines themselves as such. Their original name was "The Christian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan". Even as ISIS self-identifies as a Muslim organization. And even as most Christians don't want to be defined by the KKK, I'm guessing most Muslims would not want to be defined by ISIS.

It's run by a few elites hoping to control the oil fields. They're promising militant Muslims religious monopoly and sharia law in return for assistance realizing political and monetary aims. This is my take, but maybe I'm wrong.

It's a confusing issue. I've heard reports of practices that are supposedly blatantly unislamic, but the question is, are these practices based on orders from the top or some renegades playing by their own rules, and the media's blown it out of proportion? If not, then ISIS sees Islam as a theme and not a belief system
