Being introverted or extroverted isn't about how shy or outgoing you are. It's more about how your energy is derived-from alone time, or from other people. So it's possible to be an outgoing introvert or a shy extrovert.

Very interesting. I'm definitely an outgoing introvert. Really enjoy intelligent discussion, one on one or in small groups. I was a great blind date (if not always the best boyfriend) and do well at business dinners. But then I desperately need alone time to recharge my batteries.
