Keeping with my very recent obsession with names. I'm wondering if my name, Shay would actually suit a guy? Shay is a unisex name but female Shay's are way more common then guy Shay's at least in America.
Shay is a variant of the name Shea, which is Irish in origin and means 'Full of Majesty'. It can be given to baby girls or boys, but is more usually a girl's name. There are lots of variations in the spelling of this name; Shay is quite an Anglicised version. The name Shea is a baby boy name. The name Shea comes from the Irish origin. In Irish The meaning of the name Shea is: Majestic.
@MightyAphrodite: Shayne /shay-ne/ as a name for boys (also used less widely as girls' name Shayne) means "God is gracious". Shayne is a variant form, with the suffix -yne, of Shane (Irish, Hebrew): transcription of Sean
@ShayAdonia: Most of my circle know me as a research nutter and I like posting facts , One of my hobbies is the research and origin of family names and surnames
My Family name for example is Warner The name Warner is an American baby name. In American the meaning of the name Warner is: Defender. German Meaning: The name Warner is a German baby name. In German the meaning of the name Warner is: Protector of the people; defending warrior. Over time it was changed to Waner which began with the family surname of WAN which has it's origins in China back 3000 years ago from Madam Wan who was the Royal consort to the emperor of china ( Now my father had no idea of the meaning of the names he gave me )
