Why do some teachers assume that using advanced vocabulary is a sign of cheating, and how can students counter this bias?

Do people realize that you never get anything for "free" from the government? You always give up some freedoms. Free healthcare? They'll tell you what doctor to go to! Free tuition? They'll tell you what school to go to. Nothing is free!
