How do you teach your children to trust their own voices when you were raised to ignore yours?

Have you ever been in a situation where you had to raise a concern about an uneven workload without blaming a colleague? What happened?
What's the point in treating individuals in groups as all the same in actions and beliefs? I ask this in regards to any part of the political spectrum. Not everyone on a "side" is going to agree on every little thing. That's part of being people.
