Why does my husband have to delete messages and phone calls from another woman but then swears they are just friends?

If AI have zero emotions, and therefore doesn’t feel scared of punishment, why does it lie to programmers when being told that it’s being permanently pulled from the internet, or potentially erased outright?
Why do objects like old cars hold such sentimental value, and what drives people to restore them to their former glory?
