Why is it important for researchers to "listen to the system" rather than pushing harder when an experiment doesn't work as planned?

I’ve noticed something interesting lately. A lot of people seem to have their careers, finances, and personal lives figured out, yet finding someone they genuinely connect with feels harder than ever. What do you think has changed?
