Why doesn't age naturally bring wisdom or self-awareness to narcissistic individuals, despite experiencing repeated consequences?

Why do narcissists struggle so much with self-awareness and taking responsibility, even when it leads to losing important relationships?
Do psychopaths lie to their psychologists and psychiatrists, and even to the police when they are arrested, about their symptoms, behaviors, and the events they are accused of committing? Is it possible for a psychopath to don't hide these events?
