How do you stay focused on your career goals when people around you expect emotional warmth?

My 73-year-old father has dementia and says he wants to divorce my mother. How do I punish him for this behavior and show him how selfish he is being?
Can you understand that citizens of Russia are worried about the future and about society becoming increasingly dictatorial? Why do the Russians on this forum fail to mention this, even though they know it?
