Why do we stop over-prioritizing everyone else's pleasure and comfort above our own?

Does true altruism exist? When I do altruistic things, it makes me feel good. In a way, I do get something out of it. However, that good feeling is not why I do it.
Do you want to lose weight, improve your eating habits, and simplify your daily routine?
Why do women treat nice men as backup plans and bad boys as priorities?
