do whatever you want without caring what society thinks
StygianKohlrabi · 46-50, M
@emiliya have you tried looking it up?
emiliya · 26-30, F
@StygianKohlrabi You would be surprised by what they call psychopath nowadays. Hell, they don't even bother calling you sociopath.
StygianKohlrabi · 46-50, M
@emiliya I don't identify as either

ViciDraco · 41-45, M
Unfortunately there isn't really a clear answer here. I didn't really accomplish either. I was shy and exclusive and instead of saving I was helping support family and friends. I think I'm at a point where I wish I would have had more financially discipline then though I wouldn't have wanted to just abandon people.

I wish I had done more of both. But I'm also wishing I could get out and live more now. The desire to do so didn't fade with age. Had I been more financially disciplined I'd probably be able to do a lot more now
Softy1 · M
I didn’t vote cause I believe you should do both
Convivial · 26-30, F
Try to do both... You don't want to be struggling when you're older
Convivial · 26-30, F
@emiliya general advice...only ever unless I know more details
emiliya · 26-30, F
@Convivial We have the details.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@emiliya more than I have....
Save save ! It’s in your later years you will be thankful that you have it to enjoy.
EldritchFox · 41-45, F
It's better to go live now. I waited until my late 30's and now I'm super behind. I wish I had not been so responsible early on because it didn't do me any good anyway. Enjoy. Live. Experience. There's always ways to make it.

Life is for living, not just preparing to die.
faery · F
Split the difference and save a percentage. You need to do both
JRVanguard · 26-30, M
I’m actively going through a 1/3 life crisis
So I’m squarely in the live your life while you’re young mindset
I'm 50 and wish I'd invested sooner so I could work when I want doing things I want to rather than worrying about a paycheck
1490wayb · 56-60, M
have a little fun and be sure to save\invest 1-2 paychecks each year.
meggie · F
You could do a working holuday. Travel to somewhere where you are allowed to work. You are earning and seeing new places at the same time.
Nightwings · F
I think you should get out there and live a little since you spent your early 20s reclusive, but really there's no wrong way to live your life as long as you're doing something that makes you happy. ^^
I personally want to have experiences and live my life while I still am able to
Kiesel · 56-60, M
Mudkip · 31-35, M
Do whatever you feel most comfortable with. You can travel and experience new things without breaking the bank.
emiliya · 26-30, F
@Mudkip This lady can't. She said, "even if you're a bit broke."

Well, that means she is broke.
Sorceress · 22-25, F
@emiliya Four years of college will do that to you, yes :^)
Why can you not do both???

Within reason, you should be able to both put aside cash for later in life as well as saving up to get out there and experience things. It might mean that it takes that bit longer between experiences, but it gives you time to really plan and anticipate whatever you're going to do.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
If I could go back and give my younger self some advice, it would be to spend more time on hobbies that don't cost a fortune...🤔
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
It's very individual. I'd say if you are overall healthy, I mean physically and mentally, it's better to get out there and experience the life. Otherwise take it in a slower lane, try to fix what you can first. Small, safer adventures, etc.
Also depends if you have support in your family so you'd have someone to lean on in case things go wrong.
Reject · 31-35, M
Can’t you do both in moderation? I wouldn’t advise either in extremes.
Sorceress · 22-25, F
@emiliya To be well adjusted is to be content with your place in society and at peace with who you are. Otherwise, a person is neurotic. Whether or not they find that state tolerable enough to bear is up to them, but most people don’t tend enjoy it very much
Sorceress · 22-25, F
@emiliya Misery might love company, but no well-adjusted person is going to deliberately seek that out
Reject · 31-35, M
@emiliya Passion should be extreme, but extreme passion you don’t moderate can quickly become self destructive and ruin your life.

1. If she devoted everything to saving money, she’d never get to live, and could end up with regret as she became older without a fulfilling life to make it meaningful.

2. If she devoted everyone to spending all her money and living for every experience she can reach, she could end up regretting her situation later in life when she has no more financial support to live in any comfortable way.

If she does both in moderation. Then she’ll have the best of both worlds without the consequences of either.
