Why do Americans tend to be more afraid of government intervention than corporate overreach, and how does this fear get used politically?

Hey, I'm just a graduate at a certificate level in nursing. I've had a job but it doesn't align the professional growth but I feel the like a failure because I'm quitting the job. What do you say to me?
