Why are progressives so afraid of guns in the hands of citizens, but not in the hands of the police whom they call racist and corrupt?

Trump’s approval rating is 32%, but why do liberals think this is bad? 32% in the US is 109 million people, meaning more than 100 million people approve of Trump and the golden rule is if more than 100 million people agree it’s right.
