What was the first sign of aging that made you realize you needed to change your makeup routine or style choices?

My boyfriend gave me a promise ring that he paid nothing for, pre-used with one of the diamonds missing. He didn't even had it to me himself, his uncle did. Is it ungrateful of me to feel insulted?
