Why do parents force their kids to do a sport/activity they know that their child is not interested in?

What are some misconceptions people have about homelessness and the choices homeless individuals make regarding shelters and jobs?
I've heard of students who routinely skip school and yet ace standardized tests. I get that some people are really smart, but how do those students know the content assessed by the tests without being exposed to it in school?
