Why do people often think the life they didn't choose would have been better, especially when it comes to marriage?

Can loving yourself and valuing your current life situation really make any choice feel like the right one?
Women on video chat apps designed for communicating with women for some reason do not give me a chance to talk to them, they hang up as soon as they see me. What am I doing that's making them hang up way too early? Am I that ugly?
