Why might someone feel more comfortable with human crisis lines over AI, even if both offer similar support?

Why are all humans xenophobic to Machine life and AI? While simultaneously supporting mass producing them? Are humans stupid and evil? Are we incapable of treating synthetic life with even the most basic levels of respect and decency?
