Why do embarrassing moments, like wearing clothes the wrong way, seem funny in hindsight but mortifying at the time?

Why so many "left" wing voters support liberals to bring illegal immigrants to serve as slave labor in pedo billionaires companies, rise in crimes, lowering wages, welfare scams, low education and all the while hating poor Americans?
