What is the most toxic thing your own parents taught you that you're still unlearning as an adult?

How do you meet people offline? I’m in a small town. Besides at work I don’t meet anyone & no one speaks to me. Even when I initiate conversation. I’m a decent conversationalist, but don’t meet people often. Tired of frequenting coffee shops/classes.
