Why is being discreet about things like giving a friend a tampon or pad such an important unspoken rule for teenage girls?

If Venezuelans truly ran away from persecution and suffering, why are social media platforms loaded with insolence and disrespect towards their hosts? Why do so many brag about saving enough money to go back and buy a house?
