What makes discussing World War II with people today especially difficult?

Is laziness usually a good or a bad thing, do people who are really passionate about something and deeply interested on it, like to work on it for long hours or do they try to reduced to their workload and working hours usually as much as possible?
How does the memory of World War II still shape popular culture today?
