Why does age and the loss of admiration hit a narcissist so hard, and how does it change their behavior as they grow older?

Why does a friend keep saying he’s having flash backs although I know he’s had problems in his life, it makes me think he is thinking about the time I was kissing his aunty in front of him, may this be a means to cut off the friendship?
