How can couples handle living in different cities for work without feeling disconnected in their relationship?

Do girls try and put down good looking guys? I would say I’m an attractive guy but I've noticed some girls tend to name call me or make fun of my appearance.
I feel there is a disconnect between men and women that has been growing for a while. Is it just me or is this really happening? If so, why?
